To improve their understanding get your pupils to think about and filter information into levels of importance.

Launch Resource

The aim of this exercise is to encourage pupils to think about a task and what they have learnt through filtering the information into levels of importance.
Pupils will need a pen and a piece of paper.
Pupils are to record 5 points they have learnt from the lesson or related to the lesson subject and then rank order them.
They are then to identify the most important point and write an argument for why this is so.
They can then compare their important point with a partner and decide who is correct.
Finally this can then be fed back to the class in pairs.
